Calling the EBAC Nurse

When you call 510-869-8497 to speak with a nurse, we will ask you to leave a message in the nursing voice mail system with your name, telephone number and a brief description of the problem you have or why you are calling. One of our nurses listens to our nursing voice mail messages often during the day, and a nurse will call you back as soon as possible. Patients with the greatest medical need get called back first. Because of this we cannot promise to call you back within a certain time frame, but we will always try to meet your request. Our goal is to call you back on the same day. Except for medical emergency calls, calls received after 4:00 pm will be returned the next working day.

We log-in each telephone call we receive, so that we can be sure we respond to each patient's phone call appropriately and in the shortest amount of time possible. We know this may sound like EBAC is a big, impersonal office; however, that is not true! Please talk with your doctor or one of our nurses about any questions you have about this procedure.

About Medication Refills...

Three or four days before you run out of your medication, call your pharmacy. The pharmacy will need to fax a request for medication refill to the EBAC refill fax number: 510-869-8473. We will approve the request, if appropriate, and fax back that approval to the pharmacy. You should then call the pharmacy to find out when they will have the medication ready.

Please Plan Ahead!

  • Try to request medication refills at least 3 days in advance so that you do not run out.
  • Don't wait until Friday to call in your refills.
  • Do not run out of medicine on the weekend. No refills will be given at night or on the weekend.
  • Please respect that we receive many refill requests and it may take until the next day to approve and process your needs. You will be given a prescription for any new medications at the time of your physician appointment.
  • Refills of controlled substances, such as narcotics, require a written triplicate prescription, and cannot be refilled over the phone.
